WHO YOU ARE:

B. E. (Safety & Fire Engg.) with Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety from recognized institute / university.
10-15 years’ experience in Safety and Fire department of Chemicals Manufacturing Site / Complex independently Managing Emergency Control Center, Firefighting systems, and Occupational Safety.

POSITION PURPOSE:

Ensure 24 x 7 Emergency Preparedness and Smooth Operation of Emergency Control Center (ECC) and Fire Fighting System. To assist the management in the fulfillment of its obligations, statutory, or otherwise concerning the prevention of incidents, accidents, personal injuries and maintaining a safe working environment ensuring minimum risk to People, Property & Environment at Vapi Site.

 
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage a team of Firemen and Emergency Control Center (ECC) Shift Officers and ensure 24 x 7 ECC Operation and preparedness by timely periodic inspection, maintenance and testing of all Fire and Safety equipment such as Fire extinguishers, Pump house, Fire Water tanks, Fire Water Pumps, Fire Hydrant pipelines, sluice valves, fire hoses, SCBA sets, Gas Sensors, Safety harness, Fire tenders with all accessories, Ambulance, Fix Fire Protection System etc... in line with statutory / legal requirement. 

Ensure that “Safety and “Fire Fighting” system is always kept in fit condition as per approved procedure. 

 Ensure that the required spares and accessories are always available and accessible.

Conduct periodic Emergency Mock drills and fire drills as per statutory requirements and record observations with actions for improvement in emergency response and preparedness.

To ensure and collaborate with the concerned departments in planning and organizing measures necessary for the effective control of personal injuries.

To advise on safety aspects in all job studies, and to carry out detailed job safety studies of selected jobs. 

Ensure through plant rounds that global corporate policies, procedures, guidelines and knowledge documents are complied.

To check and evaluate the effectiveness of the action taken or proposed to be taken to prevent personal injuries.

To advise the purchasing / store departments in ensuring high quality and availability of personal protective equipment.

To advise on matters relating to carry out plant safety statutory inspections and audits. Ensure that global and statutory audit observations are timely and adequately complied by advising and coordinating with other departments / functions.

To carry out plant safety inspection rounds, in order to observe / check the physical conditions of equipment, piping, forklifts, cranes, manlifts etc..., installation checks and the work practices and procedures followed by workers and to recommend measures to be adopted for removing the unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions by workers.

To render advice on matters related to reporting and investigation of industrial accidents and occupational safety and health hazards.

To investigate the dangerous occurrences reportable under Gujarat Factories Act, 1963.

To maintain such records, as are necessary relating to accidents, dangerous occurrences, and Near Miss.

To promote setting up of central safety committees (CSC) and periodically conduct such meetings and prepare CSC MOM with action plan and review 
mechanism for timely completion of actions.

To plan and organize in association with the concerned department, campaigns, competitions, contests, and other promotional activities that will develop and maintain in the interest of the workers in establishing and maintaining safe conditions of work and procedure.

To Design and conduct suitable training and educational program for the prevention of personal injuries, accidents, firefighting, road safety. Support plants in implementation of BBS program.

Participating with projects and plant teams to conduct Process and Plant Safety reviews. Evaluating and conducting risk assessment through Management of Change (MoC) and monthly monitoring of HAZOP and MOC status at site.

Maintaining documents related to ISO-9001, 14001 & 45001 and assist management representative to ensure that the Safety requirements are incorporated and complied with. Update Onsite Emergency Action Plans, Safety SOPs, logbooks, record sheets and checklists.

Fast Emergency Response in case of any emergency / fire. Prevent injuries, damages, accidents / incidents & losses by continuously improving safety standards in operations through Risk Identification and mitigation to ALARP.
