II. POSITION SUMMARY
JOB PURPOSE
The DCS Engineer is a key member of a project execution team and is responsible for driving the work process for generation of all Instrumentation Control, and Operating Philosophy and Graphical representation of the project. The DCS Engineer would carry out the role of lead engineer on a project with guidance and support from a more experienced Principal Controls & Instrumentation Design engineer.
They possess an understanding of design, execution and implementation of Instrumentation systems across Air Products plants and products.
The Engineer is expected to review and comply with the project execution strategy, I/O List, H/W Configuration File, CSDO, Control Narratives, Functional Description, Shutdown Matrix and Interlock List.
He is responsible to comply his role with proper tracking and completion within budgeted Man Hours.
He is Responsible for Review and timely Intimate the Flag for non confirmance or Data requirement to finish the work on time and Project schedule is maintained.
He is responsible to work with Various Cross functional team for Data and Knowhow Exchange for smooth execution of Project.
III, NATURE AND SCOPE
The Engineer is also responsible for supporting Design, Engineering / commissioning / operations team /design of all controls, instrumentation and DCS at Air products plants globally, and also offer advice and guidance to AP engineering partners Instrument teams, enabling the delivery of safe, fit for purpose Instrument designs to an agreed schedule to meet a pre agreed construction budget.
IV. DIMENSIONS:
The plants will range between small mid-size and large, cryogenic Air Separation and Hydrogen/Carbon Monoxide. These plants may be owned by Air Products as part of their Global Operating Group or may be turnkey sales to third party customers
The primary purpose is the delivery of a safe, fit for operation control system design and implementation to an agreed schedule and budget
Responsible for review of corresponding vendor documents
A Control System (DCS / SIS) principal engineer acts as the technical interface between AP project execution and commissioning teams.
Providing support to other AP engineering centers as desires.
V. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
DCS Engineering :
The Engineer will act as DCS engineer on small to medium projects supported with a more experience engineer.
Organising work to meet deadlines dictated by project schedules. Brief his/her supervisor at any time on the status of equipment on the projects.
Liaise with other engineering disciplines to agree operational and interface details on all project packages and equipment. Taking the initiative in resolving interface problems.
Liaise with vendors and resolve technical issues without exposing Air Products to claim for additional costs.
Control the man-hours and equipment costs incurred on projects that are his/her responsibility, anticipate manpower requirements and highlighting scope and design variations in accordance with Air Products procedures.
Travel globally for periods of time to conducts inspections, DCS configuration checkouts, supervise construction contracts or loop check commissioning of Measurement & Control systems.
DCS engineer should have the following competencies related to SIEMENS PCS 7 system.
DCS Engineer should have sound knowledge of H/W Configuratio.
He is familiar with Central and Remote Control System.
DCS Engineer should have in depth knowledge of Client Server Configuration.
DCS Engineer should have knowledge of defining and setup rules of Engineering Station, Operating Station, Redundant Server, Tag Server, Web Client etc…
He is responsible for various communication protocol establishment for Data Transfer and Communication.
He must be aware about various Programing Language tool like LAD, FBD, CFC, STL, CMT etc…
He must be proficient in OS/ SCADA Graphics Development and Animation work.
He must be aware about Safety and SIL System Calculation and Programing.
Various Third Party System Integration in DCS System.
Know how of Licensing Philosophy.
Proficient in Software and Various Software tools used in DCS Programming.
Sound knowledge of System Selection and Architecture Development.
He is responsible for Software Stagging, Panel FAT, and SAT related Activities.
He should be capable to understand P&ID, Control Narratives and CSDO.
Basic Knowledge of Panel Switch gears and Electrical Components.
V. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
An Engineering Degree (or equivalent) with minimum of 7 to 10 years’ experience in a relevant industry of which at least three years should have involved control and instrument design
Excellent written and spoken English and strong communication skills
Experience comparable with the grade in a relevant industry preferably will have involved LASU (Large Air Separation Unit) design.
Start-up, commissioning or plant operating experience an advantage
Cryogenic Air Separation and Flammable gas plant experience preferred
Must be familiar with an engineering organisation, the function of each discipline and how they interact and the function of the various support groups globally.
Experience of DCS (Distributed Control System) software and associated modules, also sound knowledge of P&ID, System Architecture, Logic Development and Graphics Representation.
Experience in Communication System Establishment and Various Commuication Protocol.
Experience of Panel Basic Components and Electrical switch gears.
Knowledge and experience of System Design, Control Philosophy Complex Logic development, Safety System Knowhow.
Experience and knowledge to effectively communicate issues and ideas effectively to GEM
