Job Highlights

Purpose

 Custodian of Process and Plant safety across the country organization including Toll manufacturers as per LANXESS Directives

 To conduct the A1 Preliminary Safety review at the process development or project concept step. 

 To conduct the A2 Safety design Review at the project or plant design step to address all main process and plant safety issues. 

 To conduct and moderate HAZOP’s (A3 certification) and risk assessments for all new projects/ Existing plants across India as per LANXESS guidelines, leading a team comprising of Production and Engineering Heads, Safety Heads from the sites. 

 To conduct the Explosion Protection study as per LANXESS guidelines

 To conduct and moderate Pre-Start-up Safety Review (A4 certification) as per LANXESS guidelines, which is license to start /operate any plant/ facility. 

 To revalidate the A3 / A4 certificates after review at an interval of 10 years as applicable

 To act as a bridge between India, other regional hubs and Germany to share the best practices related to Process and Plant safety

Responsibilities

 To conduct and moderate HAZOPs (A3 certification) and risk assessments for all new projects across the country organization including Toll manufacturers as per guidelines ‘Safe Design and Operation of Processes and Plants at LANXESS

 To ensure the implementation of all the recommendations coming out from the A3 certification and conduct a ‘Pre-Start-up Safety Review (A4 certification)- License to start/ operate’ for all new/ existing projects before start-up of the plant

 To review and assess the risks coming out from the ‘Management of Changes’ with respect to Technology and Facility

 To ensure that training to all the employees with regard to implementation of the process relevant safety system for safety critical instrumentation and safety critical SOPs are imparted as per ‘LANXESS Best Practice Recommendations Process and Plant Safety’

 To conduct and moderate revalidation of the A3 / A4 certificates at an interval of 10 years as applicable with global guidance and support from Leverkusen. 

 To ensure the implementation of guidelines for Safety Integrity Level (SIL) and Alarm Management at LANXESS organization across India including Toll manufacturers

 To provide support to the sites for conducting ‘Job Safety Analysis’ and other risk assessment tools like Aspect-Impact, LOPA etc. 

 To provide support to the sites for conducting ‘Incident Investigation –Root Cause analysis

 To act as a bridge between India and other regional hubs & Germany to share best practices in order to achieve same level of process safety system across all LANXESS sites globally

 To manage external PPS resource partners for meeting PPS needs of the country organization with global guidance and support from Leverkusen. 

 To increase the awareness among the sites for the criticality associated with Process relevant near-hits and incidents, and ensuring proper reporting and investigation of process relevant near-hits and incidents

Requirements

Complexity of Problems to be solved

 Chemical Engineering

 High level of knowledge of process safety. 

 High level of knowledge of plant safety

 Good understanding of Process instrumentation systems

Competencies, Skills And Requirements

 Knowledge of HAZOP, HAZAN etc,

 Knowledge of PHA – Pro

 Needs to widen knowledge about process and plant safety procedures across the world

 Needs to have knowledge with respect to plant operations and procedures

 Needs to have sound understanding of various data analysis techniques

 Needs to have good chemical engineering knowledge

 Needs to be have proficient understanding of and expertise in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
