Position: Plant Manager - EM-EVA
Objectives of the Position
Managing and Controlling production operation of Care Chemicals Plant and Engine Coolant Plant at Dahej
Controlling production and quality control processes and striving for excellence in safety, cost and quality
Managing production excellence projects, productivity and employee morale
Main Tasks
Identify, plan and provide resources required for carrying out production of Care Chemicals plant and engine coolant plant.
Identify and implement all actions to comply with statutory requirements applicable to Care Chemicals production operation and engine coolant operations
Generate target related to resource conservation, energy saving, waste minimization, and delegate down the line along with action plan
Lead and develop employees according to BASF guidelines and support employees in their development
Responsible for the area of Care Chemicals plant and engine coolant includes process plant, RM tank farm, FG tank farm, and drumming unit at warehouse
Establish and monitor the overall plant activities and perform for production schedules and quality standards according to finalized customers production requirements and business decisions. Ensure these activities operate within the agreed budget in a cost-effective manner, in areas such as operating expenditure, manpower etc.
Co-ordinate with relevant departments/functions to schedule and decide all the plant activities for production, maintenance, quality, shipping and receiving, and ensure the activities support the accomplishment of manufacturing objectives in time with quality and cost effectiveness
Establish and oversee the implementation of preventive maintenance and repairing programs thereby ensuring no interruption in production process and efficient use of machinery/equipment
Work closely with technology department at BASF SE, or other plant managers of Care Chemicals plant and engine coolant in the region for new products/process improvements and to solve troubled products
Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce nonconformance and rework, implement and maintain production standard
Develop succession planning to improve work efficiency, quality and professional skills of the team member
Ensure operational consistency through use of training and development of SOPs
Comply with QM requirement and promote the awareness of quality, investigating and eliminating causes of errors, professionally deal with complaints and visit to the customer site if required along with marketing team
Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization
Implement and maintain management systems like ISO9001/ISO14001/ISO50001/RCMS/RSPO/EFfCI GMP/AITF
Monitor plant utilization/downtime/ through Asset Effectiveness tool
Track and monitor the OpEx saving through OpEx Planner
Responsible for risk assessment of all process of EM plant
EHS Related
Identify, plan and implement all the required BASF EHS/RC directives/guidelines (all RC codes) applicable to Care Chemical and Engine Coolant plant production
Nominated as TDS responsible person – responsible for compliance with local and international rules and regulations, and to BASF standard, with respect to transportation and safety requirements
Responsible for implementing safety requirement in Care Chemicals and Engine Coolant plant
Responsible for implementing ‘Permit to Work’ system in Care Chemical and Engine Coolant plant
Plan and implement improvement projects identified from various audits, visits, directives, ideas from within BASF or outside. Furthermore, monitor the progress and report the same to the concerned
Establish communication with internal and external customer to maintain and improve overall operations efficiency
Act as a leading incident controller in case of emergency Care Chemical and Engine Coolant plant during general shift working hours (8.30 am to 5.00 pm)
Responsible for monitoring and compliance of statutory requirements related to environment i.e., stack monitoring, effluent discharge and hazardous waste
Establish the safety standards and preventive guidelines according to mandatory and responsible care requirements and co-ordinate to identify the common safety/health hazards inherent in the plant operations to implement preventive measures to eliminate the potential damages related to industrious hazards
Ensure monthly plant audits to identify processes that could result in potential non conformance
Continually improve safety records by addressing safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Incorporate plant cleanliness (5S) among plant personnel to maintain a working environment that supports production activities
Ensure that discharge parameters from the plant are within the statutory limits and health and hygiene of the plant personnel are well maintained
Supervise the establishment and maintenance of documentation system to keep updated rules/regulations and trainings, inspections and audit material/records to ensure that the EHS activities/responsible care are properly documented and filed according to the needs
Ensure training with regards to safety and procedures for the outsourced personnel where there is high attrition
Minimum Education and Qualification Required for the Position
Education: B.E/B.Tech/B.SC with MBA
Working Experience (min required exp.): More than 15 years technical experience, plan. Operations management preferred. Experience, skills, and knowledge in various manufacturing disciplines including production, technology preferred
Technical & Professional Knowledge: Good interpersonal, time management skills with ability to drive team and interact in a multiple hierarchical level. Continuous improvement techniques and methods including overall asset effectiveness, statistical techniques. Distributed control system operations/safety instrumented system function (SIS) for enhance safety of the operations. Competency in systemic approach and root cause analysis
